Thank you so much for this!!! Do you know which pony club that is by any chance? I sent an email to the one that I think is closest (I live in Columbia MO). It is the Hinkson Valley pony club. They referred me to call a riding place called Mid Mo riding center with Crystal Kendrick. Said that for pony club they like for the kids who join to already walk trot independently and have some tacking up skills, but that the instructor at mid mo riding CTR is the one who teaches pony club, and that being part of her lesson program can lead to that. You can use their horses too.
I’m not seeing Stacy Bates-- do you know what town? Do you know much about Columbia barns?? Lessons are very expensive for me, so if I continue paying, I want to do this right.
Thanks!

Oh wonderful!! That is a GREAT barn with excellent instruction. I have a friend named Amanda who keeps her horse there. Stacy may have stepped down, her daughter is now in college and I haven’t seen her in a couple of years, so she may have gotten out of it. But, I’ve heard awesome things about Crystal, so I think you guys are going to be in good hands!

You’re absolutely right, lessons are not cheap and it is really difficult to find good instructors who actually teach correct horsemanship, especially when you’re new to the sport and don’t exactly know what to look for. I grew up in Jeff City and still have some connections in the area so please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions! Best of luck!!

Thank you!! Now I just have to see if my kid will be ok with looking somewhere else-- she grows attached to things and is very sentimental. She once kept a broken doorknob that we replaced because it used to be our doorknob… Put it inside her dollhouse
