Hi - was reading this post about having bunion removal with big toe fusion. I’m afraid I won’t be able to ride after. It’s going to be my right foot and they are saying 6 weeks plus physio there after. Any suggestions/recommendations? Thank you!
I have had a total of 7 toe/bunion surgeries on my feet and have ridden after each. Yes the recovery time is lengthy. Don’t push it. Yes, you’ll be sore for a while as you begin riding again. I have wide footbed stirrups and very comfy boots. I’m currently in a boot following hammer toe and neuroma removal surgery. I expect to be riding at week 6 unless doc says 8. For me it’s the non weight bearing that makes bunion and fusion surgery suck so bad. I’ve got lots of hacks for making that better! If you hurt now, and the bunion is making life difficult then do it.
