Hello, I’m shopping for a new slant load trailer to fit my 17.2hh long bodied warmbloods. You mentioned that you own one that fits yours. Do you know the length and width of the stalls? I will be shopping for an 8’ wide but realize there is more to it and wonder if there are specific warmblood specs. Do yours have mangers? I would LOVE to get one with mangers for the storage options, but not at the expense of my horses health. Your experience would be most welcomed. Thanks for any info you can share!
Hi Legerete, yes I own a Sooner model 8 foot wide slant load trailer with mangers. To be honest I would not buy a trailer with the permanent mangers again as I did have a young horse put their foot over the top of the lip of the aluminum manager and try to escape through the side window (silly young horse). No injuries at all but again it does cut into the front leg space that a larger horse could use to brace themselves. The under manger storage however was FABULOUS for storing chairs, hoses, rugs etc. Mine was a living quarter trailer so always lots of stuff to bring along Make sure you get the warmblood size slant stalls, basically the stalls are on less of a “slant” so the horse has more head to tail room. I would never consider any slant trailer less then 8 feet wide… if trailering horses on your own I also found them much safer for a single person to load and unload…FYI.
