This is our first go at running a Combined Test. We have excellent footing, good parking, etc as we have Hunter shows at our facility. Next year, we’d like to offer CT’s that are CDCTA sanctioned, but wanted to get our feet wet first. I have posted to most of the places suggested, but feel that I’m missing some ways of reaching out to this community.

That looks good to me, it checks all my personal boxes! Too bad I’m doing the twilight Eventing at Loch Moy on Wednesday the 22nd, otherwise I would sign up for this; my horse is boarded in Upperville so Berryville is not that far for me. I think it takes time to establish a reputation as a “good venue for CT’s”, they are notorious for getting a mixed turn out – especially at first. Once you get your feet wet and get some good word-of-mouth reviews, you will probably get better turnout in the future. There are no CTs that I can give an unqualified thumbs up to - they are either too far away, warm up is not optimal, footing is not optimal, courses are a bit mixed as to difficulty, etc. As someone who competes at lower levels (with my young homebred mare) and also coaches students who consider CTs good schooling opportunities and tuneups for HTs, I am always thrilled to see more options! Hang in there, I hope you get a few more good suggestions on the Eventing Forum.
