Hello! I saw a post you made from 2015 about your barn owner/ manager installing an automatic waterer. I was just wondering if he would be willing to install one on my property?

Hi, sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. I’m not spending as much time on COTH as I used to. The barn owner’s husband put 7 heated Nelson’s in some with help. They have been there for a long time and we don’t have much trouble with them. I know they put a slit trench in because they had to run the water from a dug well. They poured concrete pads for each one to rest on. The only real problem we had was with stray current on the one my horse and his buddies use. It had to do with the grounding and it was fixed. Nelson has outstanding customer service.

Where are you located? I doubt that he wouldn’t be able to help out because he has a full time job and a lot of work to keep up with around the farm. I know that people do use plumbers, maybe you can find someone. If there is only one it shouldn’t be too bad depending on how far you have to run utilities.

I like the Nelsons and think they are well worth the money. They can kick the walls and nothing happens. I think plastic degrades and probably wouldn’t last as long. The only one that ever freezes is in truly outrageous cold because it is mounted on the side of the little barn and needed more insulation.
