Relocating from SoCal to south east Idaho. I have a 32 year old mare who has never experienced anything more than a Socal winter. We will be relocating in winter but she wont come out until spring . We plan to build a small pole barn for her at our new place with some pasture.

Im really worried about how this may effect her. Shes old, a hard keeper with minor arthritic changes. Mentally shes as in great spirits. Very 'young at heart ’ if you will.

How hard is this going to be on her? Will it be too hard? Should I consider leaving her in Socal? There’s also the 16 hr trailer ride. ( with a few overnights of course). Just wondering if anyone has experience with this. Want to do the best I can for her.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
