Hey Michelle. The CA goings on is starting to worry me. As you stated, having people making rules who know nothing about horses in general, and racehorses in particular, is heading down that bad road. I don’t know if daughter Stronach caved out of incompetence or was afraid of legal ramifications regarding track conditions, but to let Kathy Guillermo start dictating training and horse care is scary. I simply don’t trust that person, especially after what PETA tried to do to Steve Assmussen. I’m not in the business at the moment, but still get offers for different functions, and follow the races almost daily. Btw, I hope you’re doing well.

It is very disturbing. I’m glad my primary income is not reliant on horses but I know people who are and they are terrified. I have two TBs left and I’m not breeding any more and I am not alone.

It’s great to hear from you. I miss your perspective.

BTW–about Stronach–the story I’ve heard is that Cher came up to her and complained and that a lot of these so called reforms are from that conversation because Belinda didn’t want be criticized by her celebrity friends. Ritvo warned her not to go this way but she didn’t listen to him.

So Cher is now making policy and Governor Newsom has puportedly said something like if they can’t fix it shut it down for awhile. No one is taking into account the economic ramifications that go well beyond the tracks.

Welcome to California.
