Hi All. I am in the very early stages of considering changing the barn I have my horse at. The training and BO is wonderful, but I find that I worry when the BO leaves a 16 year old in charge of calling the shots about turnout, assigning horses to stalls, feeding, and “reprimanding” boarders/horses. I have talked to BO about the situation but sounds like BO is appreciative of the extra hand, so I’m not the priority. I also realize that my expectations might be higher than reality, and so I may just have to suck it up. I’m hoping folks can help me with two questions:

  1. is it relatively normal for teenagers to be making decisions and have a lot of control at smaller facilities?

  2. are there quality low-key options with indoor and room for dressage riding (meaning, arenas with no jumps) in southern Connecticut? Would prefer one with a positive atmosphere and no young children as my horse is high strung.

Thanks in advance!
