I have a question for any horse owner’s who have adopted a horse from the Standard Breed Foundation and/or Adopt A Horse. I have adopted 2 horse’s to help Veteran’s for treatment with PTSD. I have gotten their shots and Coggins test. My vet has asked for past shot records, age of horse and other health issues. All I have is the Adoption contract and nothing states in that what my vet needs. The horse’s are feed, watered, a farrier trims there hoofs every 6 to 8 weeks, the veterinarian came to my house to draw blood and give shots, and check teeth and looked good for their age. All this is according to their guidelines and I have asked questions regarding this and other questions and I feel I am being ignored. Are they not doing the veterinary work and hoof work before adopting? Are they not fully investigating the health issues and not passing it on in writing to the adoptee? My husband, a veteran, has been helped by these two horse’s as well as 2 other veterans, by them grooming them and walking them on our property (which is 13 acres of blue stem grass and front two acres is our home) Have any of you had this problem? The other problem I have is removing a person from are contract because she left the end of December and has not had contact with the horse’s at all. My husband, veteran’s and I have been taking care of the horse’s. Our lawyer has stated that she has no contact then it revert back to my husband according to a Texas law. Please get back with me if anyone has had issues because I’m concerned.
