I have a beautiful spotted walking horse mare age twelve that I have been riding for 7 years. About 6 months ago she became lame in her left back hip. The left leg feels like its popping out of joint. It only does this at a slow running walk gait. It feels like she steps in a hole. It is very rough jolt and is not rideable… The vet says she needs hard work to build muscle, but I was riding her on long hard rides weekly. She said the stifles were not swollen or locking. She gave injections in both sides, but it did not help. She put her on Bute for 10 days, that did not help either. Just a $600.00 vet bill. All that was about 4 months ago. I tried riding her 2 weeks ago and she is worse than ever. She does not limp at a regular walk, she runs , bucks, kicks in the pasture as if nothings wrong. I wonder if the stifle is slipping at the running walk gait? She was a wonderful smooth riding girl before this started. Anyone who has any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You
I’m surprised that I haven’t gotten more response about my problem. Please help me if you can. Thanks
