This is my first post. I am hoping for some advice. I know there are a lot of experienced folks out there. My 18 yo palomino mare (Dash for Cash) had scar tissue from an untreated hind fetlock injury that happened when she was young and had a different owner. A few months ago she developed an abscess. In spite of xray, carving into the abscess, applying poultice, bandaging and stall rest the abscess has not healed. I am leaning toward a standing mri. I know that will be very expensive but my heart breaks at the thought of putting this goofy, funny and sweet mare down. Does anyone have any advice for me?
