So my farrier came out today and said my horse is definitely pawing, and this is posing a problem. My horse is a hot OTTB, and he doesn’t stand still much whether being ridden or standing for the farrier. This has also been difficult trying to get him to slow his pace while riding. It has been a horribly wet and muddy year. Between throwing shows and the weather conditions, riding is very inconsistent. That chalks up to unfavorable. Farrier also suggested tying him to a tree and letting him stand every day until he learns to settle down. He said it wouldn’t stop the pawing problem, but that he would definitely learn to stand still. Thoughts on this.
