Can someone explain “Big Tour” and “Small Tour”? I’m newer to dressage and I’m not familiar with those terms. Thanks.
Big Tour and Small Tour are shorthand words for the two main levels at a CDI (international dressage show).
Big Tour riders do the Grand Prix test, and then one or both of the Grand Prix Special and the Grand Prix Freestyle.
Small Tour riders do the Prix St. Georges and then one or both of the Intermediare 1 and the Intermediare 1 Freestyle.
In addition to getting ribbons for each test, there is an overall division winner at the end.
Some CDIs also offer Medium Tour, and age-group based levels (like Pony, Children, Junior, Young Rider, U25).
Thank you so much!
