Tractor question

We have acquired a spiffy little JD 4410 tractor. The specs say it is capable of lifting 2200lbs on the rear 3 point and 1130 on the bale spear on the front end loader. We have round bales around 700 lbs and the tractor doesn’t seem to be overworked with one on the front and one on the back. It is so handy to put bales in the feeders, but I really don’t want to break something. I am only used to bigger tractors and this one seems so small. Am I just being paranoid?

The 4410 is a compact tractor. Those numbers are lift capacity at the pin. Figuring a 4 foot wide bale, the effective weight is doubled. It’s a bit light on the FEL for those bales. Always load the rear first, and unload the rear last. It will counter balance the FEL. You won’t break anything unless you lift the bales too high or drive over uneven ground at speed. A roll over is scary, dangerous, and likely expensive to repair. Use a little sense until you’re familiar with the equipment and the task.

hosspuller said it perfectly.

Thank You hosspuller! Exactly what I am doing. No worries about crossing rough ground at speeds though. This is the roughest riding machine I’ve ever sat on
