Traders Point Charity Show Cancelled

TRADERS POINT HUNT CHARITY HORSE SHOW 2015 CANCELLED
Zionsville, IN
The Traders Point Hunt Charity Horse Show (TPHCHS) that was scheduled to run from August 4 – 9, 2015 has been cancelled due to treacherous rain and severe weather conditions. The property that sets as a venue to exhibitors, vendors and patrons, has been compromised due to severe flooding as a result of the recent inclement weather. The drainage systems throughout the property have been compromised due the atypical rainfall amounts and the grounds are saturated with standing water. The TPHCHS organizers had consulted with experts on the condition and stability of the grounds and after extensive deliberations and expert opinions, the organizers have decided to make the safety and welfare of its patrons, exhibitors and vendors, their priority.
With heavy hearts, the TPHCHS announces that all events that were scheduled throughout the week of August 4 – 9, 2015 have been cancelled without further delay.
“We appreciate the support and guidance of our local officials and experts when it came to assessing the damage from the previous storms and making this difficult decision,” Janelle Morrison, the spokesperson for TPHCHS expressed. “On behalf of Debra Jaramillo, our Executive Director, our TPHCHS committee and the Johnson family, we are heartbroken to take this course of action but are dedicated to the safety of our participants and spectators. We are grateful for the support of our fellow committee members who have worked tirelessly to organize this year’s show and to our sponsors for their steadfast support as well. It is because of everyone’s level of dedication that this show has been a successful event and fundraiser for 37 years.”

News for anyone hoping to attend.

Really bummed about this, but understandable with all the rain in the Midwest. We go to this show every year and thoroughly enjoy it. Will look forward to next year. I am re-directing to Equifest II next week. At least that is almost in my back yard.

Bummer. Too bad they couldn’t reschedule for early fall. I bet it would be beautiful there with the leaves changing color.

Equifest is at Lamplight and has footing that has easily dealt with our record rainfalls.

It’s not just the footing in the arenas (which would probably be fine, except maybe the Grand Prix field which is grass) but the parking, stabling, and all the places in between that are on grass.

Drove by there yesterday. . . It appears that a lot of the area around there is pretty soggy. . . Very sad though. It’s a great show!

Too bad but good for them for making the call and not waiting.

Think the problem is even if it stops raining for more then a few days, there is probably damage to the overall property that going to have to be dealt with. I’m not to far from there and we have a lot of secondary road damage and anything unpaved like acess roads and long rural driveways is ruts and gullies.

Super bummed about it too! Will be going to KY the week after instead though if anyone else heads that way!

The hunt held a pace there last week. It had to be very restricted due to the high water levels and wanting to keep the grounds in good shape. It was incredibly wet (the streams were like rivers, I posted pictures on the FB page). The areas where the stabling and tents are higher, but still could not managed safely. Hopefully next year! For the locals, keep you eyes open for additional hunter paces and chases!!

A few trailers got stuck trying to get across the seemingly flat area by the hunt house (on top of a hill). No way the ground can support all the trailers (and tents, and vendors).

That’s such a bummer, always one of my favorite shows, but it’s good they came to this conclusion ahead of time. It would have been a shame for everyone to get there and then cancel, or try to go on with it and have injuries (and damage to the facility). I was actually toying with coming back home this year to watch - glad I never put those plans in motion!

I remember getting my car stuck in the parking areas by the tents one year and having to be towed out by tractor - and that was just a normal, rainy TPH year. It has to be a complete mess with all the rain that area has gotten this summer.

I think the rings (except maybe the Grand Prix field, which is grass) would have held up fine but everything in between would have been a mess. It’s no fun towing semi tractor horse trailers out.

Sooooo I am on the waiting list for a stall for the KY Bluegrass Festival. If I do not get a stall are any COTHers in the IN area and would be heading to Ledges in IL?
