A fire broke out at a barn early this morning and unfortunately, the two horses that were in their stalls lost their lives. Two others were outside and survived. Watching the aerial news coverage I realized I knew the barn and had, in fact, considered inquiring about boarding. Dodged a bullet but what a tragedy. So sorry for those owners. The entire barn roof collapsed as well as the covered arena. A total loss - all hay and tack was stored in the barn as well so nothing left.
It sounds like they lost 4 horses to the fire, not 2. So very sad.
Are we allowed to post gofundme type links? [edit]
Only for a 501c3.
The initial report said two so they must have found the bodies of 2 more if there’s 4 that were lost. It was a nice little place and the horses all looked happy and well cared for. So very sad.
Thanks @trubandloki ! I thought there was an exception for extenuating circumstances (which I thought a barn fire would fall under). I don’t know and have never met the barn or the people in it, but it’s just so tragic.
I agree, it is tragic.
I donated to their go fund me. I lost a horse to a barn fire in 2008. I’ve literally been there, and it is the worst thing imaginable.
I’ve been reading how people and businesses are really opening their hearts and wallets to help them out. The Monroe Co-op has gathered everything on their list to donate and Mitchell Hay is donating hay and grain. One company that is an auto parts store I think is donating power tools and whatever they have that they can use to get up and running again. Boarding barns are offering free stalls too. Such generosity is amazing, and horse people always come through when tragedy hits one of our own. Amanda is one of the nicest people, very friendly and knowledgeable. I liked her immensely when I met her the one time.
