Trail-et price back in 1993?

Hi all–I have a 1993 2H straight load BP Trail-et that I bought used for around $5k in 2006. I’m getting back into towing it again and am trying to add collision (and maybe comprehensive, depending on cost) to it under my auto policy, and the insurance co wants to know what it would have cost new back in 1993. With Trail-et out of business, I figured the best source of info on this question would be fellow COTHers! Anyone remember?

Thanks!
p.s. Any recommendations for another insurance co. that’s good for adding just collision on a trailer, separate from the liability that’s already carried on it through my truck? My insurance co. seems pretty clueless about horse trailers…

If it helps, my 2000 TrailEt New Yorker cost $11,500 (new). Two horse straight-load with dressing room.

Thanks, Melissa–that does help! I’m trying to get them just to factor in the price I paid for it used as an average replacement cost, but for some reason they really do want the value when new. Much appreciated!

It’s so they can charge more ;).

I have my trailer covered with Farmer’s, with separate coverage from my truck including roadside assistance. This came in handy when a tire blew on the Interstate on my trailer with enough force that it blew the the fender OFF the trailer  :dead: at 60 mph. I called the roadside line and she tried to argue that I didn’t have roadside on the trailer, so was s.o.l. I called my agent and they fixed things up, and hour later I was on my way with my fender in the bed of my truck. Horse stayed in the trailer the whole time.

Fwiw… 2007 Trail-et New Yorker ;). Love this trailer.

I bought a used Trail-Et New Yorker in 1994 for $6500. 2 horse straight load bumper pull with a 4’ dressing room and ramp. It was a 1989 model that had never had a horse on it and had lived inside its entire life. I spoke to a Trail-Et dealer at that time and he told me that the same model new would be in the $7500-$8500 price range.

He was very helpful as well as honest and informative- you might want to give him a call. Here is his website.
