Trail Riding in Golden / Front Range Colorado

Mr. Batcoach and I will be in Colorado in late May/ early June and I’d love to take a mountain trail ride. I ride primarily dressage now, but in my teens I was a wrangler in WY, so I’m pretty familiar with the trail tourism biz. Since Mr. Batcoach is a beginner, I don’t mind walk-only, but I don’t want to go to a bottom-of-the barrel H2T place with sad skinny horses. Group rides are fine, just looking for a place with healthy, trusty steeds to carry us along some beautiful scenery.

We have not booked lodging yet, so pretty open to location as long as its about a 2 hour drive from Golden.

With the 500 year winter snow that we have had in Colorado there might still be a lot on the ground at that time or the trails might be flooded…
Try the Red Feather Lakes area. Its north of Golden, scenic and has a lot of bed and breakfast, trail ride type places that are well respected. Also reach out to the Regional Eventing group on Facebook. They are a great resource for everything horse on the Front Range.

I rode here several years ago. Had nice stock. I tried to buy the one I was on.
