Trail riding on the California coast

I am heading out to the San Francisco area to visit old stomping grounds and would love to take the time to find a place to do some guided trail riding. I don’t want to trailer my horses from Minnesota. I would prefer Marin County or Sonoma county and would love to spend some time on the beaches. Any suggestions?

There are lots of options, but I had the most fun at Point Reyes Arabian Adventures. Cantering through the forest, beautiful trails and fun, well trained horses. I did not do a beach ride, but I know they offer them. I also asked for english tack and they were able to do that.

I’ve also ridden at Five Brooks Ranch, on nice, quiet horses, mostly walking. They offer a longer ride to the beach. In Sonoma County there are Chanslor Ranch (looks nose to tail, in the dunes (i camped there only) and Armstrong Redwoods, which is not beach but gorgeous trails (I rode there 10+ years ago however)

I think there are some options south as well, but am not familiar with them. Have fun, it’s a great time to visit the coast.

Ricochet Ridge Ranch. It is further north (north of Mendocino) but you can do day or weekend (or week) rides. I rode there maybe 10 years ago, and a lovely time, fun horses, great rides, beautiful country. It will not be nose-to-tail.

The last time I was there Chanslor/Seahorse only offered nose to tail with a little trotting in the dunes. Pt Reyes sounds like the best bet.

If these are old stomping grounds you know to wear layers and expect fog to howling wind to lovely weather wise right?

Thanks for the input! Layers, layers, layers! And then the weather will change! Miss The Bay Area, will be fun to go back for a visit!
