Trailer camera frustration

We have bought a new chevy. Has hookup in bumper for trailer camera. Option of the “invisible trailer” camera

Am ordering a new trailer. Have the option of them installing a camera, but is a wireless system that as far as I can tell will not tie in to the truck’s camera view, so we have to have a separate screen for it.

I can’t find the information I want as far as how everything is installed/works so I can sort out how best to get everything integrated.
I don’t want a bunch of loose wires from an after market install in the trailer of chevy cameras, but also want to take advantage of being able to integrate the trailer cameras into the truck views

Trouble getting a satisfactory answer from chevy or the trailer people. I am sure at least in part because I don’t know what questions to ask…
HELP!

The in-trailer “livestock camera” you’re referring to does in fact integrate into the truck’s dash display and you do not need a second screen for it. I’ve been keeping an eye on this feature since GM first released it in 2016, and I’m in the process of ordering a truck with it for myself (finally!! - although with this dang chip shortage it’s going to be months before I get mine).

I grabbed a screenshot off of YouTube to show you, second from the right is the button for the “livestock cam” inside the trailer. It’s not lit up here because they don’t have it installed on the trailer they’re towing in the video.

Edited to add: Re-reading your post, not sure if you’re referring to the wireless camera installed on the outside top rear of the trailer (to get the view shown in this screenshot) or the livestock camera, but the same applies either way - integrated directly into the display.

Yes, but are they wireless? What I have seen has a huge cable that there is no good way to add to the trailer w/o having an ugly, exposed trailer. If there are wireless cameras, how do they integrate into the truck?

As far as I can tell and have researched - you would need a wired system that plugged into the truck back up camera connection - replacing it - then when you unhook you plug the factory plug in and are back to a back up camera - nothing wireless that I have found ( yet )
Wireless after market in trailer systems can go to a monitor plugged into your auxiliary OR to a cell phone as a monitor
( you are asking for an additional camera in a remote location to integrate with the truck monitor wireless )

Looks like you can do it wirelessly, says available at your GM dealer: https://echomaster.com/categories/intellihaul/ Let me know what you find out, I’m shortly going to be going through this myself!
