Trailer Dressing Room Organization

I’m a relatively organized gal, but recently I’ve been toying with the idea of furthering my love for everything neat and tidy in the dressing room of my trailer.

I have an '07 Trailet complete with bridle rack, 2 saddle racks, and 2 blanket bars.

What I’d like to do is add the following, but I’d love suggestions and/or thoughts on each:

• Brush box on door – http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003LW8R7C?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=A31FQLDKI8O2XR
• Mirror to mount on door – maybe with command strips?
• Whip holder, would like something like this but smaller as I don’t have 12 things – http://www.amazon.com/Equi-Star-Whip-Holder-Black-One/dp/B002HQ7W1A/ref=sr_1_cc_8?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1444788358&sr=1-8-catcorr&keywords=whip+holder
• Something to mount pitch fork and broom vertically in between door and bridle racks

Any other helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!

Love organizing threads

I have Stanley trunks in my trailer tack room, they make good seats as well as storage for sheets and whatever else I may need at a show (like extra white saddle pads…for when I drop my clean ones In the mud). I use my built in grooming box for all my various sprays so everything is visible and nothing can spill, and my coat rack has garment bags organized by discipline (H/J and Dressage).

Folding chairs are strapped into the corner, they live in the trailer. So does my mounting block. Water buckets live in there too with the portable bucket straps left on them, so as soon as I pull up they hook up to the side of the trailer and are ready to go. So do my water tanks (gasoline cans). Water supplies stay under the saddle rack.

On a show morning all i have to pack is food and drinks (human and horse), saddle/bridle, grooming bag, helmet, and horse with halter on and we are ready to go

Sorry, just realized I answered zero of your questions

My brush box is wall mounted near the floor on a wall instead of the door, I really like this set up and would be afraid of whacking myself with it if it were on my door.

I considered the mirror idea too, I think it would be nice but definitely needs some industrial adhesive to make sure it doesn’t smash on the floor in transit (or maybe a less attractive but stronger non-breakable mirror?).

Love the whip holder idea, I might look into that for myself. I believe you can also purchase something like a whip holder but it’s actually for pitchforks, that’s a horrible description but I’ve seen them at tons of barns. You might be able to mount it on your wall with industrial glue or have it installed with screws if you’re willing.

I used to have some sort of plastic type mirror with magnets on my trailer door, but my dad borrowed it for something and I never got it back. It worked great, never moved around and I could stick it wherever I needed to to do my hair

Here are a few neat ideas I’ve collected on my Pinterest page

DH made me this for Christmas. https://www.facebook.com/?_rdr=p#!/photo.php?fbid=10203933663528068&set=pb.1416383062.-2207520000.1444831273.&type=3&theater
It is now installed in the nose of the dressing room. I have soft fabric boxes in the tack box. One for grooming things, one for towels, one for hay nets. Plus I have some small water/wash buckets, my trailer aid, a jack, safety triangles, treats and other misc stuff in there. The top is hinged and each side opens separately.

I couldn’t quickly find my pictures of it in the trailer.

I also have a rack for my whips. I keep 3 crops plus I have some really neat giant twist tie things in that rack. https://www.campmor.com/c/nite-ize-gear-tie-2-pack-82466blu18in?gclid=CLi7qJWRwsgCFUETHwodk5AAqw

My Trail-et came with a small box on the bottom of the dressing room door and that is where I keep liniment, fly spray, Fire Extingisher.

I have added some rings to my bulkhead in both the dressing room and the horse compartment. The one in the dressing room is in the back corner under the saddle racks. I use it to bunge my water containers in place.
I have a bunch in the horse compartment. They are spaced to bungee/tie in spare bales of hay that fit under the hay manger bags for away trips. I can bungee the water containers there too.
I use these water containers, although I got them from Walmart

I love your box!!! Maybe one day I’ll upgrade to something like that, but for now I’ll stick with low-budget fixes

What type of whip holder did you purchase and where did you attach it?

As well, what do you use the giant twisty ties for?

I had 3 brush boxes on the door of my rear tack in my previous trailer and loved them. It also had 6 bridle hooks and I added some portable ones.

My current trailer, must have been owned by an organizer like me. The rear tack has 2 swing out saddle racks, 2 blanket bars, 2 brush trays, and a total of 25 bridle hooks. Love it!! I am adding a brush caddy (hanging organizer) small one on the rear tack door between the bottom blanket bar and the top brush tray. The key is to get as much as possible off the floor since that space is limited. I camp and often go for 10 day trips, so I need to have extras of everything just in case.
She also put 10 bridle hooks on the wall of the first stall and the trailer has mangers which is a huge space to hold stuff along with 10 more bridle hooks. I’m also installing bucket hangers on each side of the trailer.

I bought some of these clips to hold a broom and manure fork in my dressing room.

The Horse Trailer Accessory Store has a good selection of items. I bought a shatterproof mirror from there.

Mine is currently a blank canvas.

I’m about to put saddle racks on the short wall opposite the door. I’ve also got three 2’ x 7’ gridwall panels to put on the wall you can’t really see to the left of the door. Then I’ll play with things that hook on gridwall till I get a setup I like.

I liked the idea at http://organizedbarn.com/products.html#panels and might get some accessories from them, but I bought the main parts from others to get more choice of sizes and because I want mounting brackets that sit closer to the wall. The floor in that room is only about 20" wide so I don’t want 2" hooks stealing 10% of it.

I’m still trying to figure out a way to utilize storage under my saddle racks-- the bottom rack is low enough that having a regular trunk with hinged lid means I can’t open it without dragging the whole thing out from underneath.

I’m trying to find some sort of large drawer (similar to this) so I can simply pull out a drawer and access things in there. Problem is that I need it wide (about 3 feet long) and tall enough to hold my Cosequin buckets. The IKEA unit I linked to above looks like it’d work, but it’s not really an enclosed drawer – the top part is basically a bench and the drawer underneath rolls on the ground, not on slides.

Would single drawer filing cabinets work?

Here is a random one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O1EPZQ/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000O1EPZQ&linkCode=as2&tag=findabuy-20

but generally searching for single or stackable filing cabinet or lateral file might find others

Yeah, I was definitely looking at those… just hard to find wider ones apparently!

I have two whip racks mounted vertically above my pass thru door. This way I can have the lounge whip and my dressage whites out of the way in what was wasted space. I used the giant magnets to mount them.

On my pass thru door I have a horse trailer organizer caddy. One of those fabric things with mesh pockets and zippers. It is great for wraps, tubes of pastes, cross ties and tennis shoes.

I have a hanging shie rack (fabric), with pull out drawers hanging from my clothes bar. Min it are bucket hooks, budgie cowards, bridal hooks, towels, laundry bags, spare socks, polo wraps. I geeked out and used my label maker and packing tape to label everything.

I have a small tool box with dividers that holds double ended snaps, eye bolts and other weird things that would sink to the bottom of my tool box.

I have probably 20 hooks across the bulkhead wall. There are mounting brackets on the side wall and under the horse canvas mangers to strap to.

I have 2 blanket bars on the wall closest to the door, on the front wall of the mid tack.

For a whip holder my husband attached a piece of pvc pipe, about 3" across X 1’ tall to the wall. I just put all my whips in there and it takes up very little room.
