This post was made by a good friend of mine. Luckily he is no worse for wear aside from a dented tailgate.
The pin on his factory installed 5th wheel ball (Reese) broke causing his trailer to completely disconnect.
Thankfully he was at the end of his trip backing his trailer back in its spot. Could you imagine the scene if he was driving down the highway?
Route only inspect your towing equipment! This one made my blood run cold at the thought. 
I can’t figure out how that one is supposed to work, but Reese is not a brand I would think of for a horse trailer hitch.
I have however forgotten to release the locking pin on my B&W before, which would cause the same problem! I detest that thing, I liked the one I had before that rotated on its pin and could not be detached from the truck under any circumstances.
Oops. I thought this was Off Course!
