I have a new horse in who is coming 7 and is jumper bred through and through.
He came to me to become a dressage horse but the more I mess around with him, the more I think he really could be a very nice event horse (that used to be my background before I decided to keep 4 feet on the ground). The issue is - somewhere along the line before I got him, someone messed him up pretty badly and he has zero confidence about jumping. It happened sometime last year, because he was imported successfully jumping 1.10m with no issues (not by me)
He doesn’t do anything naughty. But he needs someone who will restart him jumping super carefully, like he’s never been jumped before, and not take advantage of a very scopey horse. He needs time and will not be a 30 day turnaround.
I’m happy to turn him into a dressage horse, but it seems a shame that until whatever happened, happened, he was jumping around safely and pleasantly and seemed to enjoy that job.
I’m located in Massachusetts and would prefer someplace relatively nearby in the New England area unless there’s a really great option in PA or VA. Open to suggestions.
