My sister-in-law is moving to Middleburg and will be looking for a trainer. She has a nice hunter who will be showing in the first year and amateur divisions next year. She’s shows in the older division, so she’s looking for a trainer who would be a good fit there. She would love some ideas and information. Anyone you would suggest? You can pm me with positives…or negatives. Thanks.
Jenn Tirrell.
Sonya Crampton, North Slope Farm- Bluemont,VA
Thanks for the names. Could you briefly describe their program?
Denise Perry
Peter Foley
Kitty Barker
Some of it depends on how much traveling she wants to do.
Add Ginny Edwards to the list. Right near the Upperville horse show grounds. In Aldie, right across from Peter Foley is Jonelle Mullen Stern and Jane Nordstrom. You have many great choices. There is also Tom Brennan and Tony Workman just north near Leesburg.
Does anyone know Elizabeth Brewer Cella? I guess she saw the name somewhere and asked me about her. I will forward these names to her.
try Phyllis Farland, Laughing Fox farm in new Baltimore; She has both hunter and jumper background

For a first year green & amateur owner horse, these 3 plus Jonelle Mullen & Ginny Edwards would be my list. Some of the others mentioned are lovely people & good at what they do, but have a lot less experience in the 3’6"+ rated divisions.
Jenn Tirrell her website is jenntirrell.com she is an amazing trainer, rides beautifully and puts her clients first.

Regrettably, Phyllis has not been in the area for some time and recently, she sadly passed away.
Try Guy and Tiffany Cambria in Upperville. Just next door to Ginny Edwards - www.codefourshowstables.com. You can also look them up on Facebook or YouTube.
Another recommendation for Sonya Crampton - North Slope. Definitely contact her - she has a really interesting resume and loads of experience. She is a thinking trainer who is going to push you and expect you to really ride and train your horse. Good stuff!
Sloane Coles. Her farm is called The Oaks. Google her and you will be quite impressed. She trained my jumper for several months. Pm me if you want to know more.
Thank you all so much for the information! I have passed it all on to my sister-in-law
Another huge Sonya Crampton fan
definitely Peter Foley.Knowledgeable experienced and reasonible.
The area is chock full of excellent, qualified trainers. Our experience with the program at North Slope Stables has been wonderful.
I’d also recommend Jenn Tirrell. I rode with her in Chicago - she’s fabulous.
