Training a very one sided pony

Hi,
I am the owner of a now 8yr old pony that I have had since she was a 2yr old. Ever since purchasing her she has always been very one sided. She will bolt off the lunge line on her off side and as well will bolt if you lead her from the off side. I have tried many techniques in an attempt to stop this behaviour but unfortunately none have worked. She’s a very smart pony and is very willing and pleasant to work with on her good side. She is also very good driven. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions or tips to use with her to try and break this habit. Thanks!

Have you had her vision evaluated by a vet who specializes in eyes? One sided bolting in hand and on the line would definitely make me think of a vision issue. The fact that it hasn’t gotten better in 6 years would make me think physical first.

What have you tried so far?

First, no more leading from the off side until you find a solution to your problem.

Does this horse need to be lunged? I would stop that for now if it can be avoided.

The goal is to stop the behavior no matter what for now.

You’ve had 6 yrs to find a solution, will you get help from a trainer?
