I was doing a comparison of the turn on the haunches TD and the walk work used to start the horse in a rollback. Reason being it was suggested in WD the horse ought to be allowed to take a step back in the TOH because rollback was taught from a reinback. After watching numerous youtube videos I only saw one trainer use the reinback, and that not one I trust to have the best interests of the horse in mind despite his standing in Reining.
So what say you. Is it ok to step back into the rollback? During the rollback? I realize the reinback is used to get the horse back over it’s hocks, but my experience sitting on horses stepping backwards while doing something like a rollback is be prepared for the horse to sit down and possibly fall over.
