How old will the mare be in the spring, and how long has she been open? She may not be a candidate for frozen.
She’ll be 14 in June, she last foaled at 6…
Unfortunate

Andreas. I too LOVE Impressionist - have bred to him 3 times and am retaining the filly I have by him. He was truly magnificent in every respect. But as Chris says, he is no longer with us. There is not frozen.
Such a shame. He was once in a lifetime horse!
I would look at Ballzauber. Darren has serious plans for eventing, but before he brought him to the U.S. he had him with Edward Gal for a while. Edward Gal was very impressed with his lightness and offered to buy him. Darren wants another Windfall and he thinks Ballzauber can get there. Axis is one of Sixtus’ best sons. Axis is also the sire of Hirtentanz who is storming through Germany right now. Ballzauber has no bids right now on the ATA SSA. Hirtentanz has a bid but the price is still a bargain since he stands for $3000 and Hirtentanz is frozen only. Ballzauber is fresh. http://atassauction.com/Auction/search_results.asp

OK, so here is my revised (short?) list: in no particular order…
Oskar II
Schiffon
Tzigane
Grafenstoltz
Titulus
Fleetwater Opposition
Tatendrang
Easy peasy right?
ETA: I do know Oskar may not be available…its a dream list!
I can make things easier by taking Tzigane Pb off this list for 2012 - all our frozen (US protocol) went up in the CSU Equine Repro Lab fire in July. We will have more but not for the 2012 season in the US (now if you were in EU - we’ve got frozen for that mkt :))
Several of those mentioned are participating in the ATA SSA:
Ballzauber
Schiffon
Tagaelen
Tatendrang
All 4 are exciting stallions and bring something different to the equation. My suggestion is contacting each SO separately - I’m certain they’d be happy to supply you with information about their horse & his progeny. But don’t forget, the ATA SSA ends on Valentine’s Day so only a week remaining. Good luck!
If you’re open to young and bred more for dressage, I need to propose Bond James Bond!
He is by Oskar II out of Barina (Graditz x Peron). He is a real puppydog, a pleasure to handle, he got a 9 for type at his inspection, good paces, and he have an excellent fertility! His owner will be super happy to give you more information, tell her it’s from Louise-Andrée!

Have a nice evening!

Another vote for Tzigane. I have just LOVED every foal of his that I have seen. And he is so versatile!

He’s lovely. Does he have any foals yet? Do you think you will get him approved with any registeries other than ATA? I have a GOV mare so I could only get part-trak papers.
Where does that Bond James Bond face came from? Anyone know the horses in his pedigree well enough to comment?
Thats easy. I can send a photo of his grandmother Babylon by Peron, and his mother Barina whose sire was Graditz who further refined the type and look. He is a truely beautiful stallion and that type should reliably be passed on.
Where in California is the mother?

The best thing would be to contact his owner, I don’t know if she plans to get him approved by other registeries.
If I’m right, his first foal are going 1 this summer. One filly out of a mare by Martini x Donaufurst is really really georgeous!!

I’m sure that gorgeous head was not hurt by his sire’s side either though
I did not read the whole thread but see that you’ve gotten good suggestions. Here are my favs for eventing sires:
Stiletto
Incantare
Tatendrag
Special Memories
Abdullah (frozen only)
These guys are either doing it or have done it and Abdullah, Stiletto and Special Memories have sired it. All should add leg and good pasterns and have good toplines. All are presently available via the ATA Stallion service auction.
Inanamorato, Ballzauber and Zauberuf are also worth considering.
Best of luck with your decision.

Very well said w/one correction. Stiletto is not available in the SSA.

I stand corrected. I think that was wishful thinking on my part as I had been looking for him to be there for myself. Good catch.

Well, you have a good eye! BTW, as OP is interested in producing a sporthorse, Ballzauber, Hilife, Inamorato, Incantare, Tatendrang and Zauberruf are all competing this weekend @ various HT’s (Pine Top and Ocala HT’s). In addition, both Tanzeln and Windfall have offspring competing this weekend @ Ocala.
One more note: Special Memories is only available frozen in the SSA.
BTW, this is the last weekend for the ATA SSA and we don’t have a second round bidding. Just to make things easy (LOL), here’s the link: http://atassauction.com/Auction/search_results.asp

Tapperjockey, I’m right there w/you on Horalas PgE*. This horse won my heart for life when I saw this video: http://youtu.be/W5Xzi8O3x7E
The strength, honesty, courage - not to mention athleticism - it takes to do this 6-bar competition (2 strides between each jump . . . looks like 1.50 or 1.55M height) is incredible.
Horalas PgE* is available in the ATA Stallion Service Auction WHICH ENDS TOMORROW: http://atassauction.com/Auction/item_detail.asp?ItemID=20
