The latest Dover sale catalog describes all 3 models on the inside front cover as “modified mid rise.” Can anyone describe what this means as far as fit goes? I like the EuroSeat look; anything to break up the acres of fabric covering the wide expanse of my derriere (plus vertical lines are slimming, no?).
Also, the difference between Symphony No. 1, 3 and 4 appears to me to be the fabric. Does anyone have any insights to share on what’s comfortable or not comfortable about each of these models, whether in the saddle, walking around, etc? Opinions on which of these wears well (or not)? Which ones are thick/substantial enough to cover some lumps, bumps and panty lines [I will invest in some Spanx, but I will NOT wear butt floss i.e. a thong]. I am looking for tan to show in at local HJ circuit shows, so if color would influence your opinion there’s that fact. I used to find that darker color breeches (rust, back in my day) were more forgiving, so you could buy cheap ones, but for white, you had to just suck it up and buy very expensive breeches to get them thick enough to not be see through.
I live in a hot part of the country, so cotton or blend is appealing but I HATE spending $100 on cotton or cotton blend breeches then have them pill in the wash. I am a machine wash kind of girl, because all my local drycleaners are charging $5 a pair to dryclean, and mine have to be washed after every ride, IFKWIMAITYD. I do turn all my breeches inside out, wash on the delicate cycle, and hang to dry.
Another question - I am not familiar with any of the new “technical” fabric for breeches; I have been away from English horses for many years and currently only have DevonAire Versailles schoolers (the only pair I could find at local tack shop that was not low rise). Does the technical fabric actually keep you cooler, without chafing? I have tried the Coolmax golf shirts, and to be honest, they make me hotter not cooler; the only thing i like about them is my Nike ones haven’t faded at all the way my cotton polos have fuzzed and faded from wash wear.
