Does anyone use and have opinions on this feed?
I use it and my mare loves it. She was underweight when I got her and gained very quickly on it with a little added rice bran- I never had to feed more than six pounds a day even for weight gain. I feed the one with the added glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM, and I do feel it has helped her minor arthritis. She looks and clearly feels great, lots of energy but not hot in the least. I had three on it but took two of them off only because they got too chunky and now get Essential K ration balancer and hay. IMO, it’s an excellent feed.
I have a gelding on it and like it quite well. It has a fairly low NSC % (~14% IIRC) and modest calories and fat. It is a good choice for horses that need more than just hay to maintain condition, but not hard keepers. Good for insulin resistant types. My harder keepers get the Kalm Ultra, which has double the fat and higher calories, but also almost double the NSC % as well.
Tribute makes good quality feed and all of their feed has a fixed formula. Excellent value.
Very happy with this product. I switched to it several years ago when the feed I had been using seemed to have declined in quality (fewer/lower levels of essential nutrients per the label) to keep the price “competitive.” I like the fairly low NSC compared to other feeds that tout themselves as being so and in reality are not.
Granted both my horses are easy-keepers, but I’ve had to reduce the serving size to keep their weight where it should be, so is definitely cost competitive with the less expensive/cheaper feeds. They also glow with health - shiny coats, dapples - on Kalm 'N Easy. Vet & chiro always comment how great the horses look and keep forgetting that they are considerably older than they appear.
Also had numerous new boarders’ horses improve in condition once they are fed this. I would highly recommend it.
Switched to this from TC Senior a few years ago and love it! Cheaper and the horses look better!
I like all of the Tribute feeds. My fairly easy keeper 4 yr old, 16.3 hh WB get one cup (8 oz measure) of the EZ 2x day together with grass hay and is has good weight (possibly a tad overweight) and is shiny and dappled. The hard keepers get Tribute Kalm and the foundered pony and air fern pony get Essential K. The 4 yr old also got Essential K when he was growing quickly but I cut that out about 4 months ago.
I really like all of the Tribute products.
My Arab, when not in work does really well on the ration balancer in the summer months. When he is in work (we foxhunt and do endurance), he’s on the Kalm Ultra, which is higher fat and more calories than the Kalm N EZ.
My old mare does really well on the Maturity product.
My friends have easier keepers/horses in significantly less work than my guy and their horses all do really well on the Kalm N EZ.

My horse has anhidrosis. Since he has been on Kalm N EZ he has been sweating more normally than he ever has before. He has been on One AC for anhidrosis and has gotten electrolytes for years and did sweat lightly. Perhaps it is because this feed has no corn, oats or molasses, that it has facilitated even more normal sweating. The combination of all these elements has contributed to his health as well as his sleek, shiny appearance.
That’s interesting. My horse has had mild anhidrosis over the past few summers, and we moved to a new boarding facility last fall. The barn switched all of the horses over to Kalm N EZ in about April or May (I can’t remember). Unfortunately, it didn’t do anything for my guy’s anhidrosis. By late July, in the midst of a heinous heat wave, he was really struggling. He’s on Platinum Refresh now and thankfully has started sweating a little, especially now that the heat/humidity has eased off.
But I like the Kalm N EZ a lot. My poor guy was going bat-crackers on the higher NSC Seniority feed that the barn was feeding, but he’s back to his chilled self now. His topline has also filled out nicely and he just looks better overall.
