Anyone tried this new product yet? I saw it advertised in a show program and have asked my feed store to get some in – under 10% NSC and alfalfa based would suit a couple of my horses that having Cushings/another with ulcers. FWIW, my feed store quoted me 28.95/bag, which is what I am paying for Kalm Ultra.
Any thoughts from our resident feed gurus?
I tried it …my horse loved it …it seemed to have given him more energy initially …it looks and smells like green alfalfa pellets …dehydrated alfalfa meal is the first ingredient listed
I haven’t used it personally, but everyone I’ve seen use it personally seems to like it.
Kalm Ultra is a weirdly formulated feed. It’s very low in fiber (12%), 12% protein and 12% fat. I’ve never had any luck feeding a low fiber but high fat feed. Higher fiber is always the way to go.
The listed price on Tribute’s website is $25.99, Kalm Ultra is $28.99. So it seems like they are marking up the Seniority Low NSC, but not the Kalm Ultra? I’d shop around for a better price.
