Triple Crown races 2025

Sandman will have Johnny V!

Since there is no hope for a Triple Crown this year I am rooting for a sentimental favorite. American Promise’s
jockey is the son of my long time friend/jockey/exercise rider. I watched Nik Juarez grow up on the backside here in Maryland. Would love to see him get a big piece of it.

it isn’t a forlorn hope. I think with a small field, he has a good chance to get in the money.

I was looking at videos of American Promise last night and thinking he’s doing good. Even though the field is small, at least 4 of the horses are working really well. And as much as I am enamored with Sandmans beauty I don’t know if he is edgy enough.

It’s going to be a great race. I’ll be cheering for your jockey friend @Laurierace

Gate to Great retrained ottb’s as ranch horses putting on a show of what they can do. I’m hoping for videos of the demonstration.

(I know it’s not a triple crown event but it’s pretty awesome)

Edit - oops! I meant to put this in the Pimlico thread.

I’ll be hoping for him!

Definitely had to hold my breath for those few strides.
Congrats to Journalism & his connections

Journalism showed some serious grit. I am surprised that the stewards didn’t take Goal Oriented further down the finishers list; he clearly instigated all that contact. I hope Clever Again checks out okay.

I honestly believe we were one sunny Kentucky day away from a Triple Crown. What a horse.

I sure wish I had the gorgeous face of Sandman to look at in my barn every morning. :star_struck:

What a crazy race, very happy to see Journalism win, and Gosgar, where did that speed and tenacity come from? Clever Again got short shafted, I hope he comes out in good health and of good mind.

So happy Journalism pulled off the Preakness win!

Agreed Journalism ran an amazing race, but I had money on Gosgar so I wasn’t too happy to see him come blazing on up.

I have to wonder if Prat will get any days for his ride/interference today….

I had forgotten all about the Preakness and just watched it. Wow! Journalism knew the assignment and no shenanigans could distract him from doing his job. What a gutsy horse with a tons of heart to match his incredible talent and speed. Good boy!

I agree that had the weather and track conditions been better a couple weeks ago, we’d be heading to the Belmont with hopes of a Triple Crown. But that’s okay. He’s a great horse regardless.

That would have been as great an exacta as Afleet Alex and Scrappy T which I had thanks to a tip from xctygirl here on COTH. But without the gut wrenching head of the stretch drama when those two collided.

Crazy race - Journalism showed true grit! But on the undercard, one of my favorite horses running, Neat, was erratic and was eased… I hope he is okay.

And then there was Reagan’s Wit’s interesting ducking & diving on the lead in his win… Jose Ortiz did a great job with him. And Witty coming from far back and weaving his way to a win in the Jim McKay Turf Sprint - another great race!

Me too! The chart said “walked off”, which can mean a lot of things, but better than “vannned off”.

Any info on Clever Again? They often “seem ok” until the adrenaline wears off.

Asmussen said he was fine – just cuts.
