Trousers for barn chores

Scrub pants. Light and airy, dry quickly if they happen to get wet, and don’t overheat you. Plus, adjustable waist!

I second wearing scrub pants! It’s a lifesaver when bathing horses. Our Goodwill has $.99 clothing for certain color tags every Sunday so I get most of my scrubs then, or wear the ones no longer appropriate for work at the care homes.

I wear something like one of these. Someone on here recommended them. They are men’s but I have no butt so they fit fine.

ETA These are the ones I wear.

Yep, my choice too --Duluth --I have one “nice” pair that wash up relatively well, and one “junk” pair for painting and generally filthy work that don’t come clean . . .and are rarely washed.

I also have scrub pants and a shirt in my horse trailer incase I fall in the mud while riding, am too hot, or need an extra layer when it is cold. I use them to change tires --when I put them on and step out of the trailer with my tire iron --in the past, someone has ALWAYS stopped and asked, Doc, do you need help? Might be because my scrubs have “Surgery” stenciled across the back . . .

These are what I was going to suggest. They even have tabs so you can roll them up to capri length.

Ha, yeah, mine don’t often see the washing machine

For anyone who’s interested in these pants or other Duluth gear: never, ever pay full price! They have sales allllllll the time. Sign up for their emails, and wait–it’s never more than a week or two before they’ll offer you something off. (25% off everything right now!)

I am sure they are for normal people but I just cannot stand anything but shorts in the warmer weather. I have been this way for 40 years now and it is just too ingrained!!

I ride in shorts too…

Have you ladies tried Dovetail Workwear pants? The Britt X Ultralight is my absolute favorite for barn work in the summer months and they have SO many pockets!

i wear sleep pants. Lightweight, pockets…generally they’re too long and i just cut them off at the right length.
