Ok, I’m trying to find a replacement forkhead for my manure fork. I use sawdust and the manure fork I use is made specifically for sawdust and pellets. It has a lot more tines so you pick up a lot more than you do with the regular manure fork. I’m trying to buy a new head but it seems as if you can only buy the whole thing, meaning the head with the handle, and that translates to paying twice as much for shipping and handling because of the handle. If the fine time manure fork is $24.95, you can expect to pay for shipping about $28.00. No one around sells these manure forks, they just sell the regular ones so I have to buy online.
But I don’t want to pay more for shipping than the manure fork costs itself, especially since I have 90 bazillion handles around the farm that need to be attached to something.
Does anyone know where you can buy just the head with finely spaced tines without the handle?
I buy the standard plastic replacement head from SmartPak. Might want to check with SmartPak, FarmTek and maybe TSC.
Nope tried Smartpak and TSC. Most everyone carries the whole setup if they carry the fine tine fork. Any heads are the regular ones. I’ve checked all of the usual tack and farm shops online, and all that I can find are the regular ones. I’m hoping someone can suggest a place that they get them from.
This one would ship for $16.
7.95 reg + 8.00 extra (unless you have other things to buy - free shipping over $100 + 8.00)

Just contact the manufacturer of your fork or the local distributor, if none of the local shops are interested in stocking, you may need to buy a box/case …
Some manufacturers just do not seem to want to sell individual parts (eg, I can buy a complete fork for under $25 or I can buy just the plastic head for over $25 - these are different shops & when I inquired at my “cheap” shop, they stated that they can bring in the complete fork for fewer $$)
Chick’s Saddlery sells just the heads. I bought 4 the last time I ordered. I’ve got a couple of extra ones if you care.
Crosscreeksh, those heads are the ones that I don’t want. The heads I’m looking for have more tines, I think its 30 tines that they have. They are made for sawdust and pelleted bedding specifically. But thanks
I understand…when I bought our first Fine Tines fork (for my husband’s birthday, lol!), I was able to save on shipping by getting just the basket, but I haven’t seen it sold that way since then.
In our case, the basket is still in good shape, but the handle broke. Unfortunately, we’ve been unable to loosen and remove the stub in order to replace it. One of our local feed stores sells them, so at least I’ll save the shipping cost.
Yes these forks are awesome! They make it much more easier to do stalls, and to keep my pigs ehem, excuse me I mean my horses’ stalls cleaner longer. I honestly thought more people used them but they are more expensive so I guess people are turned off by the price.
I second contacting the manufacturer, but if you get no joy
there, try asking one of the online sellers if they will sell you
the entire fork but just ship the head. That way you at least
save the excess shipping costs.
Reading the comments on the Schneiders site it seems that the manufacturer should take heed to this common situation and give people a break. It seems the people who use them are loyal customers and the forks have a limited life- so it’s not like they will miss out on future sales.
Where I was in CT there were several feed and grain and farm stores. I never looked, but i would wonder if they carried just the heads. Agway and Shagbark in CT would be two other places to try.
Well that was interesting, guess not. Other forks seem to be available as “just the head” to order, but not thefine tine. Unless you give valley vet or some of the distributors a call. As someone pointed out, it might well be a manufacturer thing because other fork brands certainly look like they understand theneed to offer their forks "just the head’.

Most perfect timing! Don’t you love it when you think about a topic you want to post about, then find out someone just had the same thought and beat you to it? THANK YOU!
Best deal I found was ordering through Schneiders. Orders over $100 get free shipping. Add $8 on these for oversized. Just ordered two juniors, $24.99 each, plus wormer. Easily over $100. I shopped around too. Fine Tines manufacturer wanted $38 in shipping alone for just two replacement baskets. Baskets only, for $70? Would rather two complete FT forks for $58 from Schneiders.
Google “sand rake” (interesting designs) or look on Amazon. There’s a yellow rake out there that has 3/8" mesh mounted on it for sale for $129 plus shipping. Has anyone tried mounting mesh to their manure fork? http://cdn1.bigcommerce.com/server3900/78f1d/products/44/images/177/basket__87899.1322012415.500.750.JPG?c=2
Then there is the moterized Shake N Rake from same manufacturer for $250 (reduced from $350). http://www.equiteemfg.com/shaken-rake-sand-sifting-tool-motorized-efficient-sand-sifting-rake/
