fanfayre - That might be it. I had the option to change the horses’ status at the end of completing my own renewal.
Hearing many nightmares about the system from friends who absolutely HAD to renew in order to declare FEI horses before Dec 31st, I shall sit and wait for the bugs to be ironed out.
Quick question though: “upload photo for commission”? What have I missed? Do I need to take fresh images of my horses to renew their passports?

It was brutal for me too. At first it just didn’t work, then I couldn’t upload a photo for my horse’s passport. I made sure the size was correct and tried 3 different browsers. It would let me choose one, then when I clicked upload it would seem like it worked and then instead of taking me back it woudl ask for my password again and took me back to the beginning. I ended up emailing EC with my photo and they uploaded it for me. It’s there now.
If anyone is still having trouble, Julie Cull has offered to personally help anyone who could use assistance. She was wonderful is helping me to renew existing horse recordings and update pictures. Please PM if anyone would like her extension. She was very open to me passing it along when I spoke to her in person, but I don’t feel right posting it!
