Horrible day. There is speculation a still-smoldering burn pile on a neighboring property flared (it was a very windy day here) and the flying embers caused the barn to ignite.

Hi, the headline caught my eye as Tryon is a well known hunt. How many hounds/horses perished? After seeing this headline, I was looking online to try and see an article/newspaper link on it, but I cant find any info anywhere online (other then this COTH link). So sad!
Report in the area is that 4 horses died. Cause is unknown and under investigation. No other information is circulating publicly at this point. The local paper does not publish on Mondays.

Correct, four horses died, three belonged to Trey. Hounds were unharmed.
I am friends with the girl who owned the 4th horse in the fire. She posted this today on FB so I thought I’d share:
We miss all the horses lost in the Tryon barn fire greatly. Locals in the Tryon area have put together a benefit to help rebuild a new barn at Tryon Hounds. Donations are also welcome send to the Tryon hounds c/o barn fund PO Box 112 Tryon, NC. Even in tragedy God shows us the kindness in people’s hearts as they reach out to help others in times of need
