TS Clasp Change?

I’ve always been a side zip fan, but for my last TS Trophy Hunter purchase, I decided to go the front zip route to give it a try. I was wearing them around the show where I was at with a shirt not tucked in, and I noticed that the back of the button clasps (the slide-in clasp on the waist band) were cutting into my skin a little uncomfortably. When I checked, the back of the clasp was a metal plate on the outside of the fabric (so next to the skin) with the “ends” of the clasp back a bit free-floating, so they could pinch skin between those clasp “ends” and the fabric. No wonder it was uncomfortable! I checked my side zips, and I noticed the back of those side zip clasps were inside the double layer of fabric which makes up the waist band. I also noticed those clasps were labeled “HF”, while the front zip ones were labeled “Gutos”. This has been a long question… but I haven’t bought TS’s for over a year, and is this a difference between the front and side zip or is this a recent change in TS? Has anyone else had this issue or is this possibly a manufacturing defect…?

This is precisely the reason why I don’t wear TS front zips. That, and the fit is weird on me compared to the side zips.

Just checked the ones I’m wearing now. Mine say Gutos in the front zip, and are about 5 months old. I’ve never had problems with them pinching. I checked the back of mine and they seem pretty secure and I don’t really think they’d pinch much, but also I’ve never worn them without a shirt tucked in. I think it’s probably a new tailored sportsman thing, but the size them have that second piece of fabric, but the front zips don’t because it’d be more bulk.

See on me, I have to consistently pull up my pants. The side zips are awful on me.

I’ve had that pinching problem with the TS trophy hunter front zips since I bought my first pair in 2008. I continue to buy them because I have bony hips that the side zips dig in to. I’ve found that you tuck your shirt in it eliminates the pinching, and since I never really have my shirt untucked it hasn’t bothered me. It is definitely a design flaw though.

I’ve found mine do the same thing UNLESS I wear a belt. Belt = no pinching.

I leave mine unclasped and wear a belt or tuck my shirt in, very annoying.

Thanks, everyone! I usually wear my shirts tucked in and a belt (neither of which I was doing when I noticed the pinching), so hopefully those both will fix the problem, since I love the fit and color!

I have this problem too! I wish they would fix it because otherwise they are my favorite breeches. I just make sure my shirt is tucked in. They haven’t changed their clasps at all as far as I can tell. Every single pair I have has similar clasps.

Yes I had this issue with them too. I tried bending the metal to make it less pokey, but just ended up squishing the clasp together making them unusable.
