TSG bans cargo ship transport of horses leaving its facilities

The Stronach Group will prohibit the cargo ship transport of horses leaving its facilities. This includes Gulfstream Park, Golden Gate fields, Laurel, Pimlico, Santa Anita.

any trainer or owner who is associated with shipping horses via cargo ship will no longer be welcome at any of our training or racing facilities

This will impact Gulfstream Park more than the other tracks due to its closer proximity to Puerto Rico where often lower level horses end up.

I have communicated with the horsemen’s groups in each of our jurisdictions in California, Florida, and Maryland and have received their full support on this issue

Which I find encouraging.

Couldn’t agree more! It would be even better if No horses were allowed to go to Any island down there. It’s a 99% death sentence.
