Tuff Rider Tall Boots

Has anyone tried or own the Regal or Belmont Field boot? Looking for an affordable pair of tall boots that I can ride in multiple times a week that can also be polished and used for showing.

I have the wellesley but I’ve seen them all-- I don’t think they will hold up to multiple times a week. The boots are extremely soft. They also don’t polish that well because of how soft the leather is, it wrinkles a fair amount. It takes more effort to polish than a smooth boot.

I would buy donatellos for what you want before I bought the tuffriders–though I love mine for what they are.

I tried a few Tredstep boots ( can’t remember if they were donatellos) last year but I wear a 6-6.5 and their 7s were huge on me. I’m looking to replace my Ariat Quantum Crowne Pros since they are already showing significant wear and I’ve owned them for less than a year. I only rode once a week last year but will be riding a lot more this year and can’t imagine my Ariats holding up that much longer.

That’s funny, I’ve had my Ariat Heritage Contours for over a year and they polish up to look newly broken I

while the JPC are a great buy , they are really suited to the ocassional show rider as they will not hold up to everyday use for long. They do look and Fit like a glove with NO break in time. and they are coming out with an extra tall model. They also make a great pair of stand-by boots to keep in your trunk for those Zipper malfunctions .

Be wary of anything “Quantum” in the Ariat line - initial manufactures in this line earned their reputation for FAIL.

If you have the receipt & under 1 year, I’d get after Ariat for compensation: once a week & boots showing significant wear is absurd, that translates to less than 2 months of daily use … it’s recommended to own 2 pairs of boots & rotate them daily for longevity of the boot.

Check the Tredsteps again, they start with a 36 (which roughly translates to a 6), unfortunately they’ve gone over to “stretch” panels in most of their boots, so if you’re not a fan of that … well it’s difficult to find any non-custom boots now that make just a leather boot.

The Ariat Heritage Contours do seem to have fairly positive reviews, Ariat is also now a big fan of the stretch panels in almost every boot they manufacture :frowning:

MIKES MCS, do you have any further info about the extra tall model? I am super tall and have not found any off the rack boots that hit high enough on my leg. I don’t mind it as much at home but would love to have a pair that is tall enough for showing.

The new Ariat Heritage are significantly taller (in all sizes) than their older counterpart or other boot models (not sure if this will persist as Ariat is still only offering the single boot size chart)

Check this page for the Xtall Wellesley

I wonder what the difference is between the Regal boot and the Wellesley, they look the same to me…

soloudinhere- Do the Tuff Riders fit true to size? or should I size down a little in the calf to allow for stretching?

OK so The Wellsley is a dress Boot , no Lace and the Regal comes in either or. If you are a slime in Ariat I would go with extra slim in JPC , The measurements are about a half inch off IE: the 9 1/2 Regal Field actually measure up the back seam without the heel a touch over 19 not 19 1/2 , due to the nature of the glove fit and soft leather they will drop a full inch , they outside spanish cut is not as high as some of the new Italian cuts but still a good inch to inch and a half higher then the back seam , These boots look really nice on but because of the stretch panel they fit a bit bigger then the actual measurments.
The less expensive Baroque boot will hold up to everyday riding for about a year and if you have a shorter leg they aren’t bad for showing either , it does take time to work the zipper up and break them in and you need help the first few times zipping them up if you want a snug fit .

Srsly? Recommended by whom - boot manufacturers?

Color me a tightwad, but at $200 (or even worse, $500) a pop, I expect a boot to last a couple of years even if I wear them every day. Perhaps I’m just setting myself up for disappointment…

I’d size down. They seem to run a little larger than the size chart.

For whoever asked, the Regal boots have a reinforced calf with stickier leather than the Belmont series/Wellesley series.
