has anyone used this on themselves, horses, dogs? I’ve been hearing a lot about it lately for joint pain and many other ailments but haven’t known of anyone who has tried it. just wondering if any of you have and what your thoughts on it are?
I’ve taken tumeric for pain and found it did diddly-squat. Also tried curcumin, which should have been even more likely to help. Nada.
I use it with my entire family. Two legged and four. Dogs and horses. Cat is to smart for me, lol. I have noticed a huge difference in them and their condition. It also reduced my son’s seizures which is an effect it has. It’s effectiveness depends on the quality of the ingredients being used. Method in which it is made, correct measurements of turmeric, coconut oil (or olive) and fresh cracked peppercorn and how it is stored. Yes, it sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t. Have been using it for 6 months and let me tell you, my mare will let you know if you miss a few days! And I am dealing with tough issues. Major skin problems on white mastiff. Mare with multiple issues. And then us, lol. Facebook has groups you can join to get the best information.
I began taking 3 capsules 2X daily for swollen and arthritic knee…and it is very effective for me…and the longer I take it (about 10 months now) the better the effect seems to be…my sore knee is only slightly larger than normal, and most days the pain, because of reduced swelling, is mild to moderate…if I overdo, I just take plain buffered aspirin for any additional pain
Tried Turmeric with my dog over the winter. It didn’t seem to do much for his arthritis and I stopped it after he had a pancreatitis (complete with aspiration pneumonia from throwing up so much that day while I was at work).

I’ve never noticed a difference, but your post is making me wonder if I didn’t use a high enough dose. I still have 2 bottles in the cupboard - I’ll try upping it -you’ve motivated me!
Keep in mind that high doses of turmeric/curcumin can alter bile flow - so if you, your dog or horse have liver/gallbladder issues, be careful.
And the pills/capsules are dangerous to use and especially so if used for more than a month. There are a lot of explanations on the Facebook groups as to why.

Horses don’t have a gall bladder…
I’m another fan of turmeric. Take it daily for my crummy knees and arthritis and I believe it does work. I notice a difference (positive) when I take it and a difference (negative) when I don’t.
It also allows me to not take as many of the heavy duty anti inflammatory / pain killers to manage the pain
Im a real fan of it overall for what it can do in a positive way for people and animals alike

But they do have a liver.
