I don’t know what the last few posts are about. Back to the topic, horses that are learning or struggling with TOH do well to do them off of a circle. Go on a circle, bring the haunches in for several strides, when the horse is comfortable turn the shoulders around to make a small circle. Don’t make a TOH, but a very small circle with active steps. The horse needs to understand what you are asking and to keep the rhythm of the walk. Later start doing true quarter turns, then progress to making the turn from shoulder-fore (this is eventually how TOH are started), then progress to TOH off a straight line.
