TVG buys HRTV

I can’t believe they’d be that foolish to let the HRTV on-air talent go. For a very unscientific poll - HRTV has 257k likes on FB, and TVG has 68k likes. Please - hopefully it’s just a “last day” in name only for one corporation over another. They can’t really be that stupid…

I like Peter Lurie as well - we don’t want “pretty” necessarily, but astute… And reasonable is so much more welcome than brash. Any time I’ve been to a big race, and passed by the loud TVG production booth, I just want to unplug their lights.

They are so OBNOXIOUS.

Am only home 1 night a week now, so had dropped my satellite scheduling to basic. Was thinking of ramping it back up today just to get HRTV. If this is the truth, will forget that idea.

Thank goodness for some odd reason, channel 23 out of Albany has now added OTB as 23.2, so I can pick it up through my antenna. Guess it will have to do.

If anyone hears the final decision, please advise…:sigh:

Lots of speculating about a new “on air line-up” for both channels.

Coordinated post times?

I wasn’t aware of this, but Peter Lurie is also a “voice actor.” He’ll land on his feet though the shame is we’ll all miss his passion for horses.

My outside activity today got canceled, so I tuned just in time for the post parade of Tampa 1. Different graphic on HRTV, so of course no pedigree info. Veracruse/Siegal there, and Carrothers on TVG.

This really wouldn’t be nearly as annoying to me if I wasn’t sick, but I am, so I’ll likely continue to bitch for awhile :sigh:

Maybe coordinated post times will lead to coordinated condition books, or meets…nah.

I just canceled my HRTV subscription because of this.

Was pleasantly surprised to see Christina on air yesterday. I figured since she went from tvg to hrtv that she would not. Be welcome back, glad that wasn’t the case.

Yea, it looked to me like all the significant racing moved over to TVG.

I personally was horrified that TVG allowed Steve Coburn to make the comments he did on last weekend’s telecast. I see that all clips have been pulled from the TVG sites and Youtube. It was pretty bad that Simon and Mike laughed at the remarks too…

I have DISH and spent the $50 /month for RTN to get the signals from all the tracks. I don’t watch either TVG or HRTV anymore

Missed that. What was he talking about? I thought he had learned his lesson, in regard to the press.

Had to laugh today. Most of the ads for HRTV were voice overs by Peter Lurie. Hope he gets residuals.

Per TBC: “I hope I come back with my head on my shoulders and not in a bag.”

The poster wasn’t sute of it was authentic or not as they hadn’t heard it and the interview has since disappeared…but it was all over Twitter and really isn’t all that unbelievable that he would say something like that.

As long as someone keeps Jimmy Duggan for the jumping races, I’m OK with change.

Driving home after work last night, hoped I could catch The Rebel on HRTV on Sirius radio. Nope. They were interviewing women boxers on the channel that HRTV would be carried on. Hope there is some racing coverage left on Sirius - but not sure I can listen to the usual TVG mouths - think I might wanna drive off the road. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have Twinspires and watch all the signals for free.

Well, jumped in and ramped up the satellite TV package again for KD coverage. One website said NBC Sports was carrying the Florida and Louisiana Derbys today. And thought could fill in w/ HRTV and (ugh) TVG.

Well, NBC Sports has no horse racing coverage today.

And now have seen the “new” HRTV. As much fun as watching grass grow. And TVG still as unfun as ever.

The signal for the LA Derby was live on HRTV, and non-existent on TVG. And live on TVG for the FL Oaks, with a lag on HRTV. Broader coverage for the FL Derby on TVG. Guess they must be running out their contracts for broadcasting w/ the tracks?

This coverage is awful without the HRTV crew.
Except TG for Caton Bredar, and the mute button.

I’m getting settled in with two channel horseracing now. The fact that they tell you which channel the particular race is on is nice. As long as Caton and Zoe are reporting and I can mute the clowns I’m sticking it out.
