Has anyone else noticed that the on air staff for TVG seems to be getting thin? I know they lost/let go Michelle Yu last year, and then I saw Christine Blacker on air on HRTV. Last week, I swear I heard Mr B.
I have noticed Matt Carruther’s show Blinker’s Off has disappeared. Are they in financial trouble what with them losing Betfair Hollywood Park? If Betfair was able to buy into HP with enough money to get their name into the name of the track, why are they allowing it to go under?
You did see Mr B last week, unless we were both hallucinating at the same time

If they are having problems, it has nothing to do with Hollywood Park- having Betfairs name on there took a paint job and a ham sandwich and it was mainly a political sop because they want exchange wagering in California.
I’ve watched it most of the weekend while I’ve done things around the house. TVG seems to have a full compliment at Saratoga, Monmouth, Del Mar, Ruidoso and the studio and Carruthers is still there. It looks the same to me.
Mr. B is on HRTV now, as well as Michelle Yu. I’m wondering if Christine’s baby is due soon because I didn’t see her on air this weekend. 
I just wish the picture/broadcast quality was as good on HRTV as TVG. Definite difference on Dish.
…I’ve watched Blinkers Off at least within the last two weeks (and Matt Carothers is on right now with Starting Gate…) Love Rich Perloff and the Handicapsule, Tom Cassidy and whatshername at Montmouth (though I’ve got to stop listening to her gut feelings about who looks good in the post parade because it’s not working lately.) Right now their “teams” are pretty much at Del Mar, Saratoga, and Montmouth, with The Quarters at Ruidoso. It varies based on where the big racing action is.
I have no interest in HRTV as they have way too much extraneous non-racing stuff. TVG seems much more focused on serious punters. We had HRTV when my parents had Dish (they got fed up with not getting any good channels and dumped it for DirecTV, which is what I have) and I don’t miss it.

I read somewhere recently that Christina’s daughter was 6 weeks old already and was surprised because I hadn’t noticed her missing. One of the 2 channels is on almost 24/7 around here
You know what I wish I could justify is subscribing to RTN which is the track feed from around the country. No Theisman prostate or Walt Frazier’s testosterone level 10 times an hour. I saw it recently and I want!
When is Blinkers off on now? I had it scheduled to record for five years or so, but I can’t find it anymore. They don’t have anyone at Saratoga, but Tom is at Monmouth, as that is where he is from. He is doing double duty with Monmouth and Saratoga. I was just curious as I prefer the punters on TVG, but I do like some of the non racing stuff on HRTV.
I was just wondering why so many are leaving TVG and showing up on HRTV. I am guessing HR is tied to The Stronagh group, and they seem to have the biggest tracks in the country.
No idea, but they changed up all their programming when Saratoga and Del Mar opened because they’re covering everything from both tracks. So I would think that they’re going back to more normal programming once those meets end this week.
I wouldn’t mind HRTV’s nonracing stuff if they stuck it when TVG puts the paid programming (1am ET-noon-ish) but during the day there’s always racing SOMEWHERE…heck, I wish TVG would go back to carrying Australian racing when the Quarters is ending. They really don’t need the extraneous riding stuff, that’s what RFDTV is for…
I enjoyed HRTV’s nonracing programs until about a year ago. I think that’s how long it’s been since any of the programs were new:(

If Joanne Jones is leaving HRTV - and I have to say I was never a big fan - does that mean she’ll go to TVG? 
I think HRTV has hired away almost everyone they could save for Simon and Todd to their network.

I wonder what talent will be pulled in for Fox’s Sports horse racing coverage.
The Jockey Club announced a multi-year agreement with FS1 to air a series of graded stakes races beginning in 2014. The series will include up to 10 telecasts a year.
The FS 1 series is expected to focus on older horses, not the three-year-olds that garner so much attention during the Triple Crown, though it’s possible that horses involved in the Fox races will be familiar to viewers from their Triple Crown expereince. The series will debut on Sunday, February 9 with a broadcast from Gulfstream Park in Florida, featuring the Grade 1 Donn Handicap and Grade 1 Gulfstream Park Turk Handicap.
The series is also expected to feature races from Santa Anita Park and Del Mar in California; Keeneland Race Course in Kentucky; Woodbine Racetrack in Ontario; and Saratoga Race Course in New York.

ok, I know that Hollywood Park is going dark after this upcoming meet, but I also noticed, the BC mile is no longer the TVG BC mile, and the Dish is moving TVG to 399 from 405. Are they going to be going dark as well?

TVG was one of the first national networks dedicated solely to horse racing, providing live feeds from several tracks around in the U.S., and allowing viewers with betting accounts to gamble on races via the phone or online.
“Despite our good faith efforts to negotiate and reach an agreement to renew, and to fully resolve an outstanding compliance issue, we were not able to reach mutually beneficial terms and no longer have the rights to carry the content,” AT&T executive director of media relations Mark Siegel said in a statement.
TVG was available on channel 670 as part of its U450 Package, the company said. U-Verse continues to carry TVG rival HRTV on channel 672.
