Twin Rivers: divisions for 2, 3 and 4 year olds

I noticed at Twin Rivers last weekend, the above 3 divisions are offered. What does a 2 year old have to demonstrate at a horse trials? Or a 3 and 4 year old for that matter?

Those were divisions for Future Event Horse (shown in hand) and Young Event Horse (shown over a hybrid show jumping/xc course.

There are Future Event Horse classes for yearling/2/3/4 year olds. Except for the 4s, it’s all in hand, judged on conformation and walk/trot on the triangle. 4YOs go under saddle w/t/c. For championships, 3 and 4s free jump, too.

Mine was supposed to be doing the 3YOs this month before she got hurt. It’s a nice way to get youngsters out to see busy show venues, get used to show environments and braiding etc.

I wondered if those 3 age groups were shown under saddle or in hand. Like a breed show. I have no issues so long as it’s not under saddle.

There’s nothing under saddle until age 4.
