Two questions: new button and space bar problem

1. What does the new reply button do? It’s between the “quote” and “quick reply” buttons at the bottom right of each post, and when I click it, it turns red, but doesn’t do anything else. If I wait long enough, does it blow up???

2. When replying to a thread or posting a new thread, the space bar doesn’t work in the main message text box if I type in the title box before I’ve typed in the main message box. I can type, but the space bar doesn’t work. If I delete the text in the main message, delete the text from the title, then retype the message followed by the title, it works fine. I know it sounds crazy, but I promise, I’ve tested it a bunch of times. (This isn’t a new problem, it just seemed minor in comparison to some of the move complications, so I hadn’t mentioned it before.)

For what it’s worth, I’m using a Mac, Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6). Thanks – Jess

The button in between quote and quick reply is not new reply… it is multi-quote. You can use it to select multiple people’s text to quote in your reply. Click the ones you want, they turn red, then click “post reply” and they will all be quoted in the message.

That second issue sounds like a problem specific to your system… or at least to Macs or Safari. No problems here on Windows.

I’m pretty sure the second issue is a problem in all computers with this version of Safari – I tested it out on another machine running the same version, and had the same problem. It’s not just my machine – seems to be a minor Mac/Safari incompatibility issue. If there’s a technical fix, great; otherwise, I’ll keep using the easy work-around. --Jess

Yep, seems to be fine, and I’m on a Mac with Safari also, although it’s version 2.0.4. Have you tried updating Safari?

There are a few Safari bugs with this software (although the most recent update, just installed last night, might fix some of them… haven’t checked).
