I’m looking for a new dressage saddle but have an abnormally long femur and need a forward flap. I’m currently considering between an N2 and a prestige. I’m wondering what the typical width of a dressage saddle flap is, so that I can tell whether a flap is forward enough for me or not. Thanks in advance!
The width doesn’t really matter. It is the angle that is comes out of a pommel. To create a forward flap, most saddlers just rotate the pattern forward and cut the leather for the new position. So the width doesn’t change. There are other things they can do also to move it forward without changing the width of the flap.
If you want pm pictures to me and I will take a look.
