U.S. Congressman/foxhunter? Anybody know if there is (modern) precedent?

I need to know if any U.S. House of Representatives congressman has been an active foxhunter (in modern day.)
I know Sen. John Warner hunted here in Virginia, but I’m not finding any reference to any Congressman.
Reagan, too, of course, but he was governor before he was in the Big House, not in congress.
Anybody have any idea?
I reached out to the MFHA but they are thusfar unresponsive.

Also, I could use any anecdotes about mixing politics with the hunt field if anybody has any stories (funny, serious or otherwise!)

Our Post Commanding General was a foxhunter in our base hunt club. That’s kind of similar?

Have you tried posting on Foxhunters Online or the like?

Hunters Rest-ask your House Rep. That sounds like the perfect research project for a staff member.

Dan Quayle served in the House and his wife hunted with Casanova. What about Eugene McCarthy when he was in Congress, I know he car followed with Rappahannock in his later life. I’m sure there are examples to be found.

Paul Tonko and Andy Barr were the chairs of the Congressional Horse Caucus in the last congress. I can’t find any information for this congress, but they haven’t been in session much. Contacting one/both of their offices might be a good place to start, they’d probably have information from the caucus on that.

OMG Beverley of course. Quayle (by marriage) and McCarthy (by cartopping.) Close enough for government work …
I already put in my story for foxhuntinglife.com.
If the man gets the Republican nomination I’ll expand with the great info you and Jen have given me above.
Thanks!

Justice douglas ginsberg junts with rappahannock hunt. He was nominated for the supreme court by Regan.

Ruth Ginsburg is Supreme Court. Douglas Ginsburg, no relation is Court of Appeals.

I don’t think Doug Ginsberg served Congress, though in an expanded article I’ll certainly use that tidbit, thanks for the reminder.

Well forgodssakes, Equibrit! I ASKED the FHL editor if there was a prior link and he shrugged!!
I’m sooo glad you caught it. THIS is why to rely on the collective intelligence of this community.

Not sure how modern you’d like. 20th century? My grandfather was a foxhunter and was a US Congressman. My uncle car-followed hounds, socialized with the hunt, supported his brother’s hunting (my father) and was a US Congressman. I’d be happy to get you some info if you’d like.
Sent you a PM with my email address.
