Greetings COTH!
I am looking at used jumping saddles and happened upon a well used (but not abused) UBO saddle. It looks to be sturdy, balanced, and well made. However, I don’t know anything about it, other then it was made in Germany. I cant even seem to really find out anything about the company that made it, through some basic online searches. The store selling it only has basic background on it, mostly, that it is a hard to find brand in the USA. Anyone have any info on this brand of saddle? Does the company that made it even exist anymore? Thanks!
Never heard of that saddle brand. Found a couple of older inexpensive UBO saddles on eBay. The older styles remind me of a cross between older Stubben and Courbette brand saddles.
Thanks! Appreciate any and all info!!
I haven’t heard of it either, but every piece of German made tack I’ve owned or come across has been extremely durable and high quality (in fact, German and Swiss saddles are some of my favorites). I think if you like it and it would be suitable for you and the horse(s) you plan to use it on, it would most likely be a good option, especially if you got it for a good price.
When I did a Google search, I was only able to come up with a couple of ads that have since been removed, and a couple of pictures. They do remind me a bit of Stübben/Courbette (two of my personal favorite saddle brands; my main saddle is a Courbette), and if UBO saddles are comparable to those, they should be great saddles.
Thanks for the feedback!
I agree, I was pretty much taught that if it was made in Germany or Switzerland, chances are very good that it will be a quality product!
I am also a fan of Courbette saddles, so I know where you are coming from.
