UELN or Microchip numbers

Neophyte here, please be kind. Is it possible to look up pedigree based on the numbers? Passport shows sire and dam as unknown/not recorded. Could you point me in the right direction. TIA

Do you know the registry? If so, you can usually contact the registry head office and obtain a copy of the info on file with the registry from the registration number.

If it’s a mare, you could get her production history (foals) as well as inspection scores.

The first three numbers of the UELN tell you the country (for example the US is 840) and the next three numbers tell you the registry, so you’d have a starting point . This link might be helpful: http://www.ueln.net/ueln-code-database/find-organization-with-ueln-code/

Thanks. I do know the registry. Was hoping for a quicker answer than contacting them. I was able to find a database which also lists pedigree of horse as unknown. I have e-mailed the registry, but don’t have much hope. I do believe my question was too broad. Appreciate the help.

Hum…good post. I note there are registries on the UELN list that have numbers assigned, but do not microchip. Makes me wonder why they all don’t microchip foals…seems it would be useful.

I know the chips can migrate, different readers for different chip makers, etc., but it would be useful.
