UK online tack stores of the cheap and cheerful variety

So it would appear that my dastardly plan has come to fruition and taking my pony-mad grand daughter for a riding lesson while I was home last month has led to her getting riding lessons for her birthday…

Amongst other things, she needs a helmet. Those shared barn helmets creep me out. She’s 6 so a simple dial fit one will work great.

My UK ordering resources tend towards the higher end nowadays, which she does not need. What’s the State Line tack equivalent in the UK nowadays? Reliable, easy returns, cheap… Used to be Robinsons back in the day…

Decathlon (a European wide store, may be cheaper outside the UK) or Go Outdoors would be the very cheapest. They will also not be fussy about mailing at hat that hasn’t been tried on. Aldi and Lidl also sometimes have them available.

Other than that, Townfields in a good bet for range and have always handled my refunds easily. Or of course the ubiquitous Amazon.

On reflection, I think I’m going to send them to the little tack shop at the riding school for a helmet just to make sure it gets properly fitted.

So we’ve got the fun stuff to buy

If your looking for fun stuff Decathlon is the place to go…happily will fe in UK for Christmas so can go shopping, for Granddaughter of course!

Yeah. I think I may need to back off a bit until Christmas… just see if she’s got the intestinal fortitude to stick with it through the winter  which of course she might if she were properly equipped (I can justify anything!)

Shires is good for the price point.

But a helmet, even a dial one, is better fitted in person because each brand and style are slightly different. If she has access to a tack shop where she is riding, you might be better sending the money and then Grand Daughter buys the helmet.
