Ulcergard: best price?

Seems like it’s been a while since we’ve had a thread on the best price for ulcergard or gastrogard (I can get a script so doesn’t matter). Any good deals out there? Thanks.

BI initiated MAP pricing on UG, so we aren’t allowed to sell it for less than $35/tube.

I posted in $otherthread that they have rebates on it, at least until year end

ValleyVet has UG listed for $35/tube but there’s a 10% off code that works on it.

Thanks guys. I did a bunch of searching and found the best price at Valley Vet (bonus that I like dealing with them). With the discount I paid 31.50 / tube, and BI has a rebate through year end ($6 for 2 tubes). That works out pretty decently…

order from Abler $10 a tube their brand works just as good if not better

I don’t like the rebates. I think it is bait for the mfr to find out who is selling their product too low. So then the discount codes will no longer work.

Interesting point and had not occurred to me. That said, Valley Vet isn’t exactly a mom and pop, so I trust (and hope, because they’re good to deal with) that they’re aware. If I found out about the rebates, it’s not remotely secret.

Lots of companies offer rebates on things to get people to buy, knowing most people won’t bother (or will forget) to send in the rebate info

Unless a rebate specifically states you have to have paid $X, or “full retail” or whatever, there’s no basis for them to refuse the rebate. Lots of companies have sales here and there, sometimes GG is lower, sometimes UG is lower.

I’ve used the ulcergard rebate before. You are required to show your receipt. I was getting mine at a good price netting out at 26 or 27/tube once coupons applied. Now I can’t get it near that anymore. I’m not saying it was my fault :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: But I know manufacturers want to protect their value, and their other retail customers who are selling at their recommended retail price. I also acknowledge that that practice is fair and deep discounting isn’t, but I prefer the deep discounted price. :grimacing:

As noted above, when BI acquired Merial they set up a higher map pricing than what was previously set.

Abler is the way to go. $10 per tube for the same drug, compounded into the same paste consistency (or choose it as topdress). My horse with severe ulcers is on AbPrazole and Abler’s version of sucralfate and they are working as well as uguard/gastroguard. I’ll never waste my money on the American pharm brand again.
